Rothéneuf, Wild Beaches and Sculpted Rocks — Sea Views & GR34

Rothéneuf, Wild Beaches and Sculpted Rocks — Sea Views & GR34

Rothéneuf is a district of Saint-Malo, just 5 minutes from our gîtes in Saint-Malo, including 1 with sea view — and this is where our Le Pont gîte is located, right on Plage du Pont beach. This preserved area offers an exceptional natural setting away from the city bustle.

The sculpted rocks of Rothéneuf are unique in France: between 1894 and 1907, Abbé Fouré carved over 300 figures into the granite, inspired by Breton legends and pirates. A historical and artistic site not to be missed.

Rothéneuf’s beaches are among the wildest in the Saint-Malo area: Plage du Pont, Plage des Chevrets, and Plage de la Varde offer calm waters ideal for family swimming. The GR34 coastal path passes through Rothéneuf on its way to Cancale, perfect for seaside walks.

Nearby, the Jacques Cartier Manor — home of the explorer who discovered Canada — is open to visitors, offering an exceptional link to Saint-Malo’s maritime history.
